Dear Friend of the Constitution Party, Did you know that you won't be able to cast your vote for the Constitution Party presidential candidate unless he is listed on the ballot on Election Day? And are you aware that gaining ballot access requires collecting thousands upon thousands of signatures on petitions all across the country? I am writing to you today to urgently remind you that we must work NOW to gain ballot lines. The Constitution Party may well be the only party running a truly constitutional candidate for President past the primaries, and I need your help to ensure that voters in every state have the option to vote for our candidate. Since many of you heard from me last we have started collecting signatures in Ohio, but there are five additional states in which we must start ballot access this year, in 2007 - Arizona, Kansas, Hawaii, Maryland, and Wyoming. Time is critical, and frankly I'm concerned. Most states can't be started until 2008 and then the deadlines come fast and furious. We can't risk losing any states by waiting until the last minute! We absolutely must work to qualify every state we can this year. But the deck is stacked against us. To qualify in these six states means collecting almost 85,000 signatures. Our volunteers alone can't collect that many signatures. We must have the funds to hire professional petition circulators in these states and that will cost over $150,000. One look at the major party presidential front-runners reminds us that at no time has the danger to our freedom and values been greater, or the price for inaction been higher. Almost nowhere in Washington are policies held up to Constitutional scrutiny. Virtually every principle articulated in our Constitution and Bill of Rights has been turned on its head by the Bush administration and Congressional Republicans and Democrats. And polls show that more Americans than ever are fed up - and ready for a third party. A Zogby.com poll reveals overwhelming voter dissatisfaction with the two parties currently controlling government. I have professional circulators lined up to help us, but we have a no-debt policy, and my commitment to it won't allow me to start them until we have the money to pay them.
