WHY the CP? Most Americans want the same thing: Peace, Prosperity and Freedom. For these ends our Founding Fathers created a Constitutional Republic, which for the first 100 years prospered like no other nation in history. But for the last century, America has grown weary from war, debt and tyranny. Our nation's own history has verified what our founding fathers keenly understood: that as government grows and becomes more centralized, the liberty of the people inevitably recedes. Keeping government local and limited is the cornerstone doctrine of American government. In most nations, a central government holds power over virtually every area of the lives of its people. Not so in America--at least, not in the America that was originally crafted. Our nation's founding philosophy of liberty is that all men are created equal, endowed by God with unalienable rights. And that government is limited to only those functions which secure these God-given rights of the people. The Constitution is the contract between "We the people" and our elected representatives. The Constitution is the civil law that citizens and government alike are subject to and bound by. Hence the term: "Law of the Land." All powers which a government holds, and the rule book for how they should form and function is written in the Constitution. A constitutionally-elected officeholder promises to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. They don't promise to represent "conservative principles" or to be loyal to a political party. When we elect them to public office, we should expect only one thing: that they uphold their contract to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. Adherence to the Constitution protects our freedom: of speech and assembly; our freedom of worship; our right to keep and bear arms; our right to a trial by jury; the right to be secure in our own homes against police overreach; the right to own property; the right to not be deprived of life or property without due process of law; the right to face our accusers, and the right to keep government local and limited. Most of the problems that we face socially, politically, economically, etc., stem from America’s abandonment of our founding principles and failure to adhere to U.S. and state constitutions. The political formula contained in the U.S. Constitution made America the most prosperous nation in the history of the world. The consequence of abandoning the Law of the Land is that now America is the largest debtor nation in the history of the world. Not to mention the government intrusion into every area of life, the political corruption at all levels of government…etc. If more Americans would hold their representatives accountable to the oath to the Constitution it would bring a new birth of liberty to America the likes of which has not been seen since 1776. Political parties are meant to offer alternative philosophies, priorities, agendas, and strategies to achieve the purpose of government as outlined in the Constitution. Both major political parties have become more similar then different and neither follow the Constitution as laid out by our Founding Fathers. Both have lost the ability to govern with a clear and consistent moral compass, and thus our country has not been well served. The Constitution Party was formed to provide the people with a real principled political avenue to make their vote count, to provide political expression of their beliefs and values in elections and in implementing public policy. The Constitution Party is the only party dedicated to restoring, preserving and protecting American liberty as envisioned and designed by our Founding Fathers and embodied in the U.S. and state constitutions. JOIN US in our work to forge a rebirth of liberty!
